Style Diaries – 1st Week

Photo-journals from Oxford’s most stylish students

| UPDATED

Throughout Michaelmas term, we are excited to be running a weekly style diaries feature with one fashionable Oxford student sharing their outfits with us every day for a week.

Kicking things off for first week is Mel – a Pembroke Student and Oxford Fashion Society committee member.

Follow her style here as we share one of Mel’s looks everyday throughout first week.

Monday

Mel starts off the week with two outfits. Her day-time look is a simple and elegant outfit for tutorials, featuring a sheer paneled shirt and an embroidered collar. In the evening for drinks out with friends, she goes for a dramatic blood orange and leather combo.

Tuesday

Keeping cosy in lectures with a glamorous twist, Mel wears a fur-collar cardigan and a practical ponytail. For dinner, Mel takes inspiration from the 50’s with some retro hair but keeps things thoroughly up to date with this season’s must have trend – metallic embellishment.

Wednesday

For a day at the library, Mel wears a striking checkered coat with a beautiful bow fastener. With a careful hand and lots of hairspray, Mel recreates this bow in her hair with a stunning up-do. A plum jumpsuit and chunky necklace sees Mel through the evening for a speaker event in Oxford.

Thursday

A check shirt is a fashion staple, but Mel quite literally gives it her own twist with a bow knot at the front. For a night out clubbing, Mel vamps it up with a bold red lip and sheer shirt.

Friday

Simple jeans and a bold shirt make the perfect combination for a striking day time look. An LBD is a staple in any girl’s wardrobe, but Mel manages to stand out from the crowd with a dip hem skirt.

Saturday

For a casual Saturday look, Mel starts the weekend by wearing a cute floral print shirt and contrasting coral lipstick. In the evening, Mel stands out from the crowd in a shimmering gold dress and towering heels. She keeps her jewellery and accessories simple, in order to keep the focus on the beautiful dress.

Sunday

Mel shields herself from the Autumn wind and rain with a cute fur hat and chunky orange scarf. Black wedge ankle boots complete the look for a day running errands in Oxford. In the evening it’s time for a little black dress to take centre stage in a chic monochrome outfit. The white lapels and cuffs give the simple LBD some serious fashion credentials with a nod to Chanel’s latest catwalk collections.

Thanks very much to Mel for sharing her style throughout 1st week!
