Eggheads shell out for Quiz Emperor Hadrian
Pembroke team win £29,000 in TV Quiz after one member takes on all five Eggheads on his own
A Pembroke graduate scooped £29,000 after beating TV quiz titansThe Eggheads single-handedly.
Hadrian Ainsworth was left to fight alone after all his team mates – also Pembroke graduates – were eliminated.
And the Law student pulled off a stunning victory for the Pembroke Quad Runners when he correctly identified Qaboos Bin Said as the Sultan of Oman.
Presenter Jeremy Vine said: “I told you it was possible – well done.”
Viewers showed their support on Twitter, with Frida Larsson writing: “Unbelievable tekkers! Well done Hadrian for taking down the eggheads.”
It was a remarkable feat for the Pembroke Quad Runners – the five Eggheads had won their last 28 games.
The quiz super-group – which includes Who Wants to Be a Millionaire champion Judith Keppel – handed Hadrian the initiative when they blundered in the final round.
And he didn’t need a second opportunity, keeping his cool and sending his team into raptures.
