Exeter pays tribute to Vandana Singh

College remembers third year law student tragically killed last week

Exeter College has paid tribute to a third year law student killed in a car accident last week.

Vandana Singh was described as a “beautiful” girl who would be greatly missed.

Rector Frances Carincross said: “Exeter College is grieving for the loss of Vandana Singh, a third-year law student, killed in a road accident on Monday night.

“She was a lovely and beautiful girl, who was at the heart of college life and is deeply missed by everyone who knew her.

“Our hearts go out to her family and her many friends.”

In a message to the JCR, President Benjamin Clayton wrote: “I am proud to have known and worked with her and more importantly I am incredibly fortunate to have been her friend.

“She was a wonderful, kind, generous and active member of the Exeter community. She was a beautiful person inside and out and a true friend on whom so many people relied.

“Flowers are being laid on the quad and extra welfare services are available to all affected. Exeter will never forget her, I will never forget her, and I hope that the spirit of vitality and exuberance that we saw in her smile will live on in us.”

A short memorial service was held for Vandana on Wednesday night.
