University Teams

The Blues made it three wins from their first three league matches and remain top of the table after a 2-0 home win over Loughborough University fourth team on Wednesday, the goals coming from Adam Healy and Alex Biggs. They followed up that result with a comprehensive 6-1 win in a friendly against a combined London Universities XI under the floodlights at Iffley Road on Friday night. Read more here.

Goals from Nicholas Carlon and Matt Smith gave the Centaurs a 2-0 away win in a cup match against Nottingham University third team on Wednesday which sees them also maintain a 100% start to the season.

Meanwhile the Women’s Blues poor run of results continued with a 3-1 loss to the Birmingham University second team, Tina Gough scoring Oxford’s only goal.

Men’s JCR Leagues

Promoted teams St. Hugh’s and Lincoln continued to prove that they can compete in the Premier Division with wins 3-2 against Worcester and 3-0 over Magdalen respectively. St. Catherine’s beat Wadham 4-1 whilst leaders Exeter had a week off.

Balliol went clear at the top of the First Division with a 6-2 victory over bottom side Merton/Mansfield in which Jack Hostick scored five goals. Brasenose kept the pressure on the leaders, beating Queen’s 3-2 to stay three points behind Balliol with a game in hand. The other match saw St. Edmund Hall draw 0-0 with St. Anne’s.

In the Second Division, Keble demolished Somerville 9-0, whilst St. John’s stayed top of the league with a 3-2 win over Pembroke. Christ Church and Trinity drew 3-3.

The Third Division saw top side Hertford beat St. Peter’s 4-0 and St. Hilda’s win by the same score line against Corpus/Linacre.

One Cuppers match also took place, with Wadham beating Corpus/Linacre 3-0.

Men’s JCR Reserve Teams

Regent Park’s Benedict Newman-Sanders scored 6 goals for the second consecutive match, helping his side to beat Wadham 3rd team 9-1 in the first round of Reserves Cuppers. Last week’s Cuppers matches also saw a big win for New 2nds, 10-0 against Queen’s 2nds.

Elsewhere, St. Catherine’s 2nds, LMH 3rds, Harris Manchester, Worcester 2nds, St. Edmund Hall 2nds and 3rds, Wadham 2nds and Merton/Mansfield 2nds all booked their places in the second round.

Men’s MCR Leagues

Wolfson sit top of the MCR First Division after a 5-0 win over Nuffield, whilst Osler beat University MCR 2-1.

Brasenose MCR joined Exeter MCR at the top of the Second Division and have a game in hand after winning 5-2 away at Exeter. St. John’s MCR beat OUP 3-2.

In the Third Division, Pembroke MCR beat Kellogg 4-1 and New/St. Hugh’s MCR drew 2-2 with St. Edmund Hall MCR.
