Exeter celebrates as JCR motion calls for an end to college porn ban

Exeter students were celebrating today after their JCR passed a motion which will bring porn back to their computers.

College members are currently unable to stream smut on Exeter internet connections, because of a filter which blocks them.

But yesterday’s motion – passed by 27 votes to 17 – marks the first step in a campaign led by Katy Moe, a fourth year Maths and Philosophy student.

Proposing the motion, she wrote: “Exonians are adults who are able to make their own ethical judgements. Exeter College is not in loco parentis.”

The outcome means the IT committee must now discuss the matter before making a final decision.

Exeter students greeted the news with delight. Matt Slomka, a second year studying PPE, told Cherwell: “Having spent many an unsuccessful post-Park End night frustrated in my room, I hope future generations of Exonians will no longer have to go elsewhere for painfully slow streaming.”
