Stood Up with Louis Fletcher

The Tab meets one of the finest comedians our great institution has to offer.

Stood Up in Oxford is five nights of Oxford’s finest student comedians sharing their freshest material at the BT Studio. We’ll let you decide whether they make the cut.

Tell us a joke that always gets a laugh.

Not sure, as a lack of experience makes ‘always’ a bit inappropriate. I think I must be a visual joke though, as I hear titters over my shoulder just going about my daily business, but that’s cruel people, for you. Or perhaps it’s tinnitus… Can you hear that?

Describe your (comedic) style in three words.

Self-deprecating. Egocentric. Tragic.

How easy is it for comedians to pull?

I really wouldn’t know, and I spout on about that very issue for 15 wonderful minutes. Hopefully I will let you know after the run…

What did your parents say when you told them you wanted to do stand-up?

Don’t tell them! They think I’m doing Chekov! Or did I say Ibsen..? Either way, they were thrilled!

Why should we come and see you at the BT Studio?

Because you’ll feel better about yourself by comparison. Really. Like a million dollars.

What has been your worst heckle/best putdown?

I doubt that would be suitable for print… I wish! This is actually my first time, so I’m yet to pop my heckle/put-down cherry! Sounds exciting, no?
