A University of Nottingham spokesperson said: “We are disappointed with our position in the Complete University Guide and are determined to improve by continuing our work to enhance the excellent education and experience that our students receive.

“However, we remain in the top 20 of UK institutions as measured by the QS and Times Higher global rankings. Indeed, the Times Higher Education World University Ranking 2022 published on 12 October saw the university climb 11 places to position 130 out of 1,600 global institutions, and to 18th position among UK universities. This represents a cumulative rise of 28 places in the last two years and is our highest position for almost a decade.”
