Ocean, Trent, Mooch: All the words you could make for a Notts themed Wordle

Did you even start the day if you haven’t completed Wordle?

You must have been hiding under a rock if you haven’t heard of the new game that everyone and their mum is playing: Wordle. The game sounds simple enough, you have to guess the correct five letter word each day, but it seems to have been causing some people a lot of stress.

The game is taking over the internet with people posting their results daily on social media and theories behind how to succeed in the game taking Twitter and TikTok by storm.

Well, here’s a list of words that are bound to come up if a Notts themed Wordle was released. Computer science students and eager gamers, we could be onto something here. At least this game involves using your brain, guess that counts as an excuse to miss your lectures, right?

Ocean

A favourite answer. If this was the world of the day it would probably be 80% of Notts students’ first guess. Whether you are from Uni of or Trent this would defo be a go to.

Trent

Blasphemy for some Notts students, this word may never be guessed for obvious reasons. However, for half of the city this could also be a solid fave.

Notts

Arguably the most obvious one, almost too blatant it may be forgotten. Is it really worth wasting your chances with a double letter?

Green

Whether you’re thinking of George Green or the fact that UoN students bleed green and gold, this would defo come up on a Notts Wordle. Again, the double letter may not be of much help but you can’t go that wrong with an ‘E’.

Geese

Almost a criminal first guess with a triple letter but sure to come up at one point because they honestly run campus at this point.

Trams

A major throwback to first year night outs where most Southerners got on to a tram for the first time. This is a great guess – common letters and no doubles, you really could be on to a winner.

Derby

Whether you mean hall, road or area, this is a great first guess that could get you off to a good start. A key road in Lenton, how could it not make the list.

FloBo

For residents and past occupants of Florence Boot this may be an obvious guess but with a double letter it may be a bit of a waste.

Canal

A key Notts Wordle guess but again a double vowel may not be super helpful. It would be sure to come up at some point though.

Grads

No double letters and very relevant, a great first guess if you ask me.

Pryzm

From free wristbands in freshers to still boogying on the light up dance floor in third year, Pryzm is a fave for many of Notts students both Trent and Uni of so is an obvious guess. Realistically though if it’s not the answer how many words have the letter ‘z’ in?

Vinyl

Because really what would Notts be without Vinyl Room? This may be a rouge first choice though with a ‘v’ and a ‘y’ but you never know.

Mooch

If food is on your mind then this may be an obvious first guess, yet again though it’s a double letter so may be a bit of a waste.

UoNSU

In standard Wordle this may not pass as a word but I’m sure it would be on the Notts version.

UNRUC

To boost some egos even more, I’m sure the rugby boys would love it if this was on Wordle. Again it’s a double letter so not be a great starter and may only be used by that funruc member who lives, laughs and loves rugby.

Boots

A solid guess for your meal deal needs when the queue in Spar is too long. Again it does have that double ‘o’ though.

Jäger

This may not be as Notts specific but it is appropriate for any uni city. This may be the last thing you’d want to guess on a Thursday morning when the stomachs feeling the wrath of Crisis the night before.

Fresh

We’ve all been there, a silly fresher! A good guess and a chance to reminisce on those first weeks and year.

Hinge

For everyone who’s completed tinder! You’re sure to find the person from Ocean, your course mate and that guy you always see in sainos! Also a great wordle choice with two vowels and no double letters.

Queue

Even though it is spelt differently, do you even go to UoN if you don’t know about the Crisis Q?

Also, if you are a Crisis regular this will have some resonance with you as the queues before Christmas were wild, fingers crossed they seem to have calmed down now. An arguably ridiculous guess with two double letters though.
