Man charged with manslaughter over death of Trent student Arjun Singh

Singh died after being attacked on Long Row at 4am on Saturday


A man has been charged with manslaughter over the death of Nottingham Trent student Arjun Singh.

20-year-old Singh died in hospital after being attacked on Long Row at 4am on Saturday night.

Mathiwos Tekle has been charged with manslaughter, robbery, and supply of a controlled drug.

The 20-year-old, from Ryeland Gardens, will appear at Nottingham Magistrates’ Court later.

A second person, 23-year-old Aron Kahsai, has been charged with offer to supply a controlled drug and released on bail.

A third man arrested in connection with the death has been released.

Singh’s family said they were “completely traumatised by his death”, but wanted to want “fulfil Arjun’s dying wish, which was to give life to other people” by agreeing to organ donation.

Nottingham Trent’s Sikh society are holding a vigil for Singh today at 6pm.

Due to Sangat in Derby also wanting to pay their respect to Arjun, time for the vigil has now been adjusted to 6pm so…
