Nottingham Uni history made as Mens football wins BUCS Trophy

Nottingham University Mens Football lands BUCS Trophy on BUCS Big Wednesday


The University of Nottingham Mens Football team smashed their opposition Bath University, in a thrilling 3-0 victory.

Nottingham dominated the match, and the previous semi-final against Newcastle. The first goal being scored in the first few minutes of the game, from a crafty header by Josh Riley, after a penalty allowed Nottingham to take advantage towards to goal.

Nottingham continued to command the game, scoring a further two goals. Yet, Bath managed to apply pressure in the second half with several shots on target, putting pressure on Nottingham's clean sheet.

Mens Football captain – Andrew Drylie had this to say after the game.

"It’s an unbelievable feeling to be part of the team, to lead the team that won the first ever BUCS Trophy for the University. I can’t get over it or put into words how proud I am of all the boys for all the work over the season. All the club for their support, Nick and Tom all our coaches. It’s amazing and we definitely couldn’t have done it without the support we’ve had all year."

The trophy is a first for the University, and demonstrates all the effort the lads, the university and the coaches provided.
