Nottingham students named as most health-conscious in the UK

We beat 27 other universities

| UPDATED

According to a recent study done by MyStudentHalls, students at the University of Nottingham are the most health-conscious in the UK.

Each university was marked out of 26, with Nottingham securing an impressive 18 points and beating 27 other institutions.

The criteria assessed the health and lifestyle support for students at each university. This included: cost of gym membership, range of fitness classes available, approach to mindfulness and inclusivity for tee-total students.

Edinburgh also scored 18 points but Notts claimed victory on account of its amazing facilities. This is unsurprising considering the £40 million David Ross Sport Village development that Notts has to offer (as well as top class sporting facilities across our other campuses).

In fact, the study identified Nottingham's gym membership as one of most affordable in the UK. Notts' £159 a year student gym package compares with memberships up to £630 at other universities. Our student loans are screaming at the thought.

This also follows Nottingham Uni being named the best in the UK for sports in the 2019 The Times and The Sunday Times Good University Guide, published last September.

Dan Roberts, founder and managing director of MyStudentHalls, commented on the UK's changing student culture. When interviewed, he talked about a demand for quieter halls and a noticeable move away from drinking and partying.

He said: "It’s clear that a wider shift towards wellness is reflective in the ways that students are spending their money and free time, as well as how they eat, sleep and live".
