URN win best radio station for the 5th year running

Breaking records… and the award

Last night URN cleaned up at the Student Radio Awards.

For a record breaking five years, URN prove they are on top of their game – despite their dodgy dance moves.

In all the excitement they broke the award.

Genie Pearce, station editor 2013-14 said: “Backstage they told me to get everyone’s attention for a photo. I decided my new prop was the glass trophy they gave us and after banging it on the table it may have broke into two pieces – oops.”

Genie added: “I think URN win so often because when we come together we are at our best and then nothing we do feels like work.”

The SRAs were held at the IndigO2 and hosted by radio big dogs Nick Grimshaw and Dave Berry.

URN dominated, winning a total of five awards.

The trophy cabinet in the basement of Portland is surely about to burst. Here’s the list of awards won by URN:

They won Silver for Best marketing and station sound.

The Pulse won bronze for best journalistic programming.

The Science Show won silver for best speech programming.

And Izzy Clarke won Best female presenter.

Izzy said: “It’s a massive surprise and I don’t think it’s quite sunk in yet. Greg James and Alice Levine presented the awards for Best Male and Best Female who were so nice. I just find it weird to think they judged my entry.”
