The Tab Fashion: Thrift Store review

We’ve reviewed the aptly named ‘Thrift Store’, based in Hockley.

Keeping up with trends can fast become an expensive process.

If you’re fed up of trawling through questionably scented clothes in charity shops, and find yourself priced out of high street stores by your ever-decreasing bank balance, perhaps it’s time you thought about shopping somewhere new… somewhere a little more student-price-appropriate.

The Tab Fashion ventured deep into the back streets of Hockley in search of said establishment.

Thrift Store (in NG1) in its clear and basic layout is a far cry from the usual warehouse-sized jumble sales associated with such stores.

Upon entry the first thing to catch our eye was the retro arcade machine tucked in the corner.

Fitting for disinterested partners and friends that feel most at home in tracksuit bottoms, the games machine is sure to keep your company busy as you explore the store in all its glory.

The downstairs denim store was a personal favourite of ours – with jackets from as little as £18 and hole-less Levis for as little as £30, it goes some way to make old news of the old student-life conundrum: new clothes or food?

Not a massive denim fan? Not a problem.

Thrift Store is also home to rails of reasonably priced leather; the true jewel in the crown of this store is the wide selection of Dr Martens that sit on their Doc Mountain.

A selection of shirt dresses are also available. You can have as many styles as there are shirts – the opportunities are endless.

With a selection of items for girls and boys alike, and a retro games console to occupy that one friend that’s “ready to go home” ten minutes into the shopping trip, Thrift Store has most of what you might want.

With reasonable sizes and prices that won’t disagree with your bank card, Thrift Store is a friend every stylish student should look to make.
