Devilishly attractive journalist-cum-defender shatters leg in brave battle against Grove Farm divot

| UPDATED

Heroic English Soc captain, Tab journalist and all-round great guy Justin Guthrie (he’s single, ladies) faces a lengthy spell on the side-lines after breaking his leg during English’s match with French and German Society.

Guthrie’s injury was just the tibia the iceberg in a fractured and disjointed encounter between the two Sunday Division 1 sides. French and German’s aerial bombardment was too much for English’s poorly marshalled defence, yet the away side managed to salvage a 4-4 draw thanks to Somme great wing play down the Channels.

Former Medic Mark Jones’ last minute equalising goal rubbed salt into FAGS’ wounds.

Told you I wasn’t telling fibias

The previous day saw even wilder score-lines, with PhysicsSoc in a particularly compromising position after losing 6-9 to a rampant PoliticsSoc in the Satuday Super League. Politics’ landslide victory leaves second-from-bottom Physics periodically looking over their shoulder.

Saturday Super League

Only a defenceless LawSoc outfit have fared worse than Physics this season and their poor form continued as a mature performance from opponents Post-Grads contributed to a 7-2 defeat.

Away from the glamour of the Super League, MBC & BBC certainly seemed to pick the Wrong Mans this weekend as their hopes for the Division 1 title were Eastended by an effervescent Chemical and Environmental Engineering team in a 7-0 defeat.

Elsewhere, Philosophy were in Aristotal control as they defeated a BizSoc team who are in recession following their victory last week. Business’ toothless attack was unable to profit on their decent midfield work, essentially handing the victory on a Plato to ruthless Philsoc.

Philosophy handed it on a Plato

Down in lowly Division 2, Architecture are building toward an assault on the title after defeating AmericanSoc 7-6. As for the Americans, they haven’t got an Idahope in hell of gaining promotion now, with this defeat leaving them seven points off the top. Some would say they Nevahada chance.
