Wheely unfair
Nottingham City Council targets students with bin fines.
Archaic new rules put in place by Nottingham City Council are targeting students and threatening heavy fines to those that do not comply. The offence? Dumping illegal waste? Fly-tipping? Nope, leaving your bins outside.
Students in Lenton had police officers knocking on their doors this weekend, threatening fines of up to £80 per resident, simply for leaving their bins on the pavement outside the property.
But this is not the first odd decision they’ve made recently; in a another ‘elf and safety assault on common sense, NCC announced they would refuse to collect wheely bins that had plastic bags in, with no explanation given.
Locals also seem to be perplexed at the council’s pettiness:
Nottingham PCSO’s in Sneinton are putting wheely bins back into people’s gardens?!??? Is this what they’re for????

Local councils are not known for their fondness to student populations, but Nottingham has thus far avoided this reputation, could the relationship be about to turn sour?
Nottingham City Council had not commented at the time of publishing.
