SU rolling in it

Union’s budget upped by 40% by University

Total turnover for the University has increased to a massive £520m, allowing for the SU budget to be upped by a whopping 40%.

After a big year for the University (in which its turnover amounted to 29,714,285 Jagerbombs at Crisis!) the Trent Building bigwigs handed down an extra £2.5m over 3 years to the SU.

This takes the total annual bill to the Uni to a pretty decent £2.7m.

SU execs up in the club

President Ellie McWilliam believes “this investment allows us to build and improve our services to ensure the Union provides just what our students are looking for”. So even cheaper drinks at mooch and an official puppy room then? Cracking.

Look how happy he is! SU make it happen.

The amount given to the SU has been gradually increasing over the years and has grown from a piddly £800,000 in 2000 to become one of the UK’s best funded Unions, smashing bigger unis like Manchester (£1.7m a year) and Sheffield Hallam (£2m a year).

Earlier this month, Nottingham SU was voted one of the best for variety of activities, presumably because they’ve got a few quid to chuck around on stuff like QuidditchSoc and the Dubstep Society.
