Freshers week is upon us, and that can only mean one thing:  a lesson in the repercussions of excessive alcohol consumption will soon be taught (or re-taught, in many cases).

From days spent in introductory lectures, to evenings in clubs dancing to songs you won’t remember, freshers week is set to be a wild start to a year long (academic) journey.

Initial impressions are everything, so for that first introductory lecture throw on a shirt and some knitwear. Add a satchel to house any course material and effectively communicate the message to on-looking lecturers that “you’re here to learn,” however true that may be.

No doubt we’ll see some rain at some point or another, so make sure you’re covered. This layered parka outfit will successfully protect against any instance of bad weather.

Few items beat the Oxford shirt in the way of versatility. Team with some coloured chinos and a casual shoe for a quick, hassle-free, daytime freshers week outfit.

No freshers week is complete without a spot of evening peacocking at a local Nottingham club; do it right in a vibrant T-shirt, as seen here with this print T from Zara.

In a rush to get onto campus? Then throw on some jeans, trainers and a T-shirt – you can seldom go wrong with such a simple combination.

A good pair of joggers are the backbone of any freshers week wardrobe. When the night before leaves you feeling worse for wear, slip on a pair of comfy bottoms and head down to your local Cafe to address the hangover situation.

Apt for an end of week stroll around campus, this dark coloured outfit successfully mourns the close of an action packed first week.

Bear in mind though, an excess of partying can get your clothes looking a bit worse for wear. Hide your favourites until week 2 is upon us to avoid a multitude of booze/ cigarette/ lipstick stains on both clothes and your dignity.

Nothing a fresh shirt can’t fix!
