10 Things To Do This Week

A selection of cultural nuggets to ease the pain of essays and exams.

1) Music Recitals @ Djanogly Recital Hall

All week and next week, Free

Head down to the DRH to hear the music department take their performance exams. With first, second and third years performing a variety of instruments and styles there is bound to be someone you know or something you like performed.

2) Young Kato @ Rescue Rooms

Thursday

Ahead of the dot to dot festival this weekend Rescue Rooms presents the Young Kato for your delectation.

3) Bill Bailey @ Theatre Royal

Saturday, £25

Do you hate the world at the moment? Well how about spending an evening with Bill and hearing about how much he hates the world. You may feel better for it. You may feel ever so slightly more suicidal. But that is the risk you’ll have to take

4) Dot to Dot festival @ Various

Sunday, from 1pm

AT LAST. Dot to dot is back for it’s ninth year and is invading Nottingham for one day only. Line up includes Dry the River, Benjamin Francis Leftwich and Lucy Rose, plus many more. Oh it’s going to be amazing

5) £1 Shot Epic @ Market Bar

Thursday

Those cheeky buggers at Market Bar have done it again, but this week are luring you all in with £1 shots. Step away from the textbook and surrender your dignity.

6) Bonobo @ Rock City.

Monday, £15

Their album The North Boarders is one of the best revision/essay soundtracks around, and although The Tab is unsure how their sound will translate into live performance, it should be a cracking evening.

7) Charlie Phillips: The Urban Eye @ New Art Exchange

Until 6th July

Bringing a snapshot of London life to Nottingham. Well worth a visit to sooth your drooping over-worked eyes!

8) Volleyball @ Wollaton Park

Sunday

During exam term the motivation to do anything active dwindles, but ladies this is no time to slob, think about how those love-handles will look with that bikini and lads, it’s time to get rig-tastic. What better way than a friendly game of vball.

9) The Milk Race @ City Centre

Sunday

A day of cycling and jolly good fun. That description does it no justice- it will be huge.

10) Vice Summer Sale @ Coco Tang

Monday.

This week the lovely people at Coco Tang are offering lucky ladies free guest-list entry. A perfect revision break, and after wearing heels all night you wont be able to walk the next day, thus forcing you to be chained to your desk. Perfect.
