In one incident, a college student is believed to have been taken to hospital after being spiked with a needle.

Superintendent Terry Lordan confirmed Norwich police are investigating a total four reports of spiking attacks in nightclubs on Prince of Wales Road, on October 21st.

The mother of another victim wrote in a Facebook post: “Within half an hour her legs had gone and she describes her head as feeling heavy and spaced out.”

In the post the woman describes how her daughter felt a “scratch on her arm” and was “injected with something”.

Supt Lordan said: “We have have detectives who will be looking at CCTV” but urges club-goers to remain vigilant following the incidents.

He said: “If anyone has seen anything or has any information I would ask people to contact us.”

Across the UK, over 2,600 young people believe they have been spiked this term. Similar attacks in Nottingham, Scotland and West Yorkshire are also being investigated by police.

Norwich clubbers are encouraged to “look out for each other” by a police chief.
