UEA has been ranked the 28th best uni in the UK

And it’s the 13th best place to study Law


The University of East Anglia has been officially ranked 28th in the UK according to the Times Higher Education, ahead of other UK universities such as Bath, Reading and St Andrews.

The Times Higher Education World University Rankings 2021, which were released on Wednesday, placed UEA 200th in the world, alongside the University of Calgary in Canada.

UEA was given a score of 54.3 out of 100. Universities are judged based on their performance in five areas: Teaching, research, citations, international outlook and industry income. In citations, UEA scored an incredible 97.1, placing us 7th in the UK.

UEA also performed well in its subject-specific rankings. It was ranked the 13th best place to study Law in the UK, ahead of universities such as Leeds, Nottingham, Exeter and York.

Local Derby Day rivals, the University of Essex, placed in 301st overall, and 38th in the UK.

In previous years, UEA has ranked consistently in the top 15 of UK university league tables such as The Times/Sunday Times 2019. It was also ranked within the top 100 in the world in 2019. In 2020 it was placed 23rd in the UK.
