UEA staff have made 1200 litres of hand sanitiser in a week

Over 1200 litres of hand sanitiser gel has been made in just over a week

After a week of working hard, staff scientists at UEA have successfully produced over 1200 litres of hand sanitiser gel to help with the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic.

A spokesperson for the university said: “By our calculations we make that around 350, 000 pairs of hands that have been cleaned”.

The hand sanitiser gel is being handed out to local trusts as well as hospitals and councils and the project has been supported by East Anglian Brewery company, Adnams.

Scientists have said they are “still very keen to hear from organisations that can provide us with ethanol” in order to keep production lucrative.
