Everything to look forward to this Semester

Its the finale to the year and it’s going to be a big one.

Our final summatives may be upon us but that doesn't mean students can't have fun. This final semester is packed with some of the best events UEA has to offer but don't worry we've made a little selection of some of the events we think you shouldn't miss.

The Skank Trifecta

Three floors, Three sounds, Three pounds. Kicking off our list is the Skank Trifecta, taking place this coming Wednesday. With UEA's very own Electronic Music, Reggae Appreciation and Hip Hop Societies taking over a floor of Karma Kafe, it sounds like it'll be the week night out to be at. We spoke to Harrison Galliven, President of UEA RAS; 'Collaboration fever has hit UEA. For the first time Electronic Music, Hip-Hop, and Reggae Appreciation societies are coming together to give you a night of musical niceness. It's going to be a triple threat evening, with each society commanding their own floor in Karma. Student dj's will be setting the pace all night, playing everything from dancehall to disco; so there's something for everyone's taste. What's more, all proceeds go to Child.org. So you can get groovy and support a great charity – http://child.org/' To find out more click here.

Thats my Wednesday night sorted.

Zig Zag Festival

We previously covered Zig Zag last semester, you can find that article here, but for a quick reminder heres a break down of the event. Taking place on the 21st, Zig Zag is a free creative arts festival for students by students. Speaking to the Tab Norwich, Megan Browne (President of LMS) had this to say; 'Zig Zag is more than just a few societies clubbing together and making a racket – it’s a chance for creative students to share the hours, days and months worth of hard work with the UEA population that exists beyond their society'

It will take place across campus, with the likes of Livewire, Cheer, Live Music Society and EMS taking part plus much more. If this tickles your musical taste buds click here.

Derby Day

This is the sporting event of the year. UEA Vs. Essex. For the past six years UEA's sport teams have dominated Essex and this year will be no different. Taking place on the 25th, this year Essex are hosting but you can keep up to date thanks to Livewire. Plus you'll be able to celebrate with the legendary Derby Day LCR. Click here for more info.

Exit Ball

The final LCR. Is there more that needs saying? Described as a secret garden party festival, the fateful night will take place on the 15th June. We'll be graced with the likes of Scouting for Girls and Hary Caprio hitting the LCR. But if you want more, there will be; Dodgems, rides, a silent disco, photo booths and food stalls. Pimp My Barrow

Ok, so all the events we've listed are amongst some of the best things you can look forward to but none are quite like Pimp My Barrow. Early release tickets have now been released. Despite changes to this years event, find out more here, a lot of the day is the same. Students enter in themed teams, students purchase a wheel barrow with the purpose being to pimp up the barrow in a costume related to your teams theme. The proceeds go towards the Big C.

The event finishes with perhaps the most anticipated LCR night of the year, if you don't peak too early and end up hungover by 5pm.
