UEA students ran up over £77,000 in library fines in 2016/17

All that money but they still charge us for printing lol

A Freedom of Information request sent to the library by Jack Forks has revealed that UEA students had a combined total of totalling £77,361.73 in the 2016/2017 academic year.

£41,321.67 of this was collected by the Library itself and represents library fine income alone.

The Library told Jack that "It is not possible to provide a total figure for the funds received (i.e. actually paid) to the Library in total within 2016/17" because of legislative limits.

Small amounts can soon rack up…

Whilst the figure does include replacement book charges, handling fees, campus card replacement fees, it still seems pretty pricey considering we already give the university £9000 a year…
