UEA has been named one of the world’s top 200 universities

We’re still above Essex, that’s all that matters

UEA has been ranked the world's 188th university in the 2018 edition of The Times Higher Education Survey, a decline of 23 places from last year.

The survey, which was released yesterday (September 5th), ranks universities on several criteria, including quality of teaching, levels of research conducted and international outlook.

It also found that UEA has approximately 13,500 students, which are divided by a 60:40 ratio of female to male students, and 70:30 between home and international students.

In the 2017 edition of the survey, UEA came 165th, and was ranked 149th in 2016, making the top 150 for the first time. The slight decline in placing in this year's survey is somewhat surprising, considering the Complete University Guide 2018 gave UEA it's all-time best ranking.

Regardless of this, the University of Essex didn't even make the top 250 – imagine how much further ahead we'd be if Derby Day results were part of the criteria.
