Someone was attacked with a knife behind UEA Monday night

Students are reminded to stay safe when walking to and from campus in the dark


On Monday night at around 5.20pm, an 18-year-old male was attacked with a knife by two men. It happened on the footpath that runs through UEA, from the broad, onto Bluebell Road.

The two male suspects are said to have pushed the victim up against a fence whilst trying to take anything they could from his pockets. At some point during the attack, a knife was pulled and the victim has suffered several minor wounds to his stomach, which did not need medical attention. The attack stopped when a vehicle drove near the footpath which caused to the attackers to flee.

One of the suspects has been described as a white male in his early 20s, of a slim build, and 6ft 5in and wearing a grey hoodie. The other, also a white male in his early 20s, of a stocky build and wearing a green puffa jacket.

The attack was thought to occur just down the footpath leading from Bluebell Rd

Students have been reminded to stay vigilant and aware of their surroundings when walking to and from campus, especially in the dark at this time of year.
