Two per cent of students at UEA face crimes of a violent and sexual nature

UEA students are one per cent less likely to be a victim than students at Norwich University of Art


Two percent of students at UEA will be victim of violent and sexual crime, according to new statistics.

The Complete University Guide took the number of crimes reported from July 2015 to June 2016 per one thousand residents within student areas. These crimes include burglary, robbery and violence and sexual offences.

They found that the University of East Anglia had a total score of 2.7 per cent for all crimes reported.


Two per cent of people are likely to be a victim of violence and sexual offences, whilst burglary and robbery rates are at 0.5 per cent.

UEA students are one per cent less likely to be a victim of total crime and violence and sexual offences than Norwich University of Arts students.

In July this year, The Village Shop on Magdalen Street was the victim of petrol bombing as crime in Norwich has risen by 93 per cent.

These statistics are based on all residents and not just students, the results are taken within wards or electoral divisions weighted by student population.
