The Union House refurbishments aren’t actually that bad
The LCR will never be the same again
Pictures have been released of the newly refurbished Union House, and it actually looks alright.
Refurbishments began back in Easter 2015, including new sound systems for the LCR, as well as a new reception area.
A new dancefloor has already been laid in the LCR and builders have started building a new bar and cloakroom, meaning Saturday night queue-a-thons could soon be a thing of the past.
The new entrance also has a “feature canopy” in the shape of an L which changes colour.
A spokesman for the SU told The Tab: “The new entrance canopy is designed to make you feel excited, and it will transform its colour to reflect the mood of the day or the big event of the week.
“Any resemblance to a letter of the alphabet is probably coincidental.”
We reckon it’s to make students “excited” about the 5 Ls.
The footpath around Union House was closed on July 22 due to paving work, and is likely to reopen at the end of August.
All refurbishments to Union House are set to be complete by September 9, in time for students both beginning and returning to UEA.
Other additions to Union House include a “Come Dine With Me” bookable bar and lounge on the ground floor, and new gender neutral toilets.
The Tab has also been told that Unio Pizza will be available from September, so watch this space for more updates.
