Police launch investigation after woman assaulted in Bury Street

A police investigation has been launched after a woman was assaulted at an address in Bury Street.

The assault took place at around 5am on Sunday, when neighbours reported hearing screams. Detectives later told neighbours men had entered the address after arriving by car.

Forensic vans were seen outside the address on Sunday morning.

One neighbour said: “The police knocked on our door early Sunday asking if we’d seen or heard anything, and today a detective came round explaining it had been an assault, and that a car had pulled up with a few men getting out. We don’t know what the nature of the assault is yet, we’re all just a bit shocked.”

Norwich Police said: “Police have launched an investigation following reports that a woman was assaulted in Norwich yesterday morning, Sunday 19 April.

“The incident happened at an address in Bury Street around 6am. Enquiries continue and any further updates will be issued pro-actively by the press office.”
