Post-mortem reveals murdered pensioner was sexually assaulted

The suspect remains in custody


An elderly woman whose body was found in her home on The Avenues was sexually assaulted and murdered, it has emerged.

It comes after a post-mortem examination was held at Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital on Monday afternoon.

The results confirmed that the woman had died of injuries from a “sustained assault” and had been sexually assaulted.

The body was discovered at an address on The Avenues at approximately 5.20pm on Sunday after a man was spotted acting suspiciously.

The man has since been arrested on suspicion of murder and remains in custody.

Formal identification of the body is yet to take place.
