BNOC of the Year – Round 2!

It’s the second round of BNOC of the Year! Who will be getting your vote?

The first round saw Luke Frett win with a whopping 43% of votes! Who’ll be getting your vote in this round to go through to the final? Here are your nominees.

Sam Carruthers

This guy is known around campus for his unique fashion sense. He can normally be spotted in the Library or on his way to drink copious amounts of tea and go for long lunches. As Captain of the Water Polo team he is well-known in the sporting community.

“It’s a bit of a shock that I’ve been nominated – I certainly didn’t expect it. I don’t believe I am BNOC-worthy but there you go. Most people recognise me by my green coat that I always wear or my garish LCR shirts.

Once, my friends described me to someone as “the tall guy with the green coat” and they immediately gathered who I was. I am extremely proud to be involved in water polo as well as being fully involved in UEA student life.

People should vote for me because as the man in the corner shop always says when I buy vast quantities of confectionery – why not?”

Nelson Gombakomba

A self-proclaimed “African warrior”, Nelson prides himself on his fashion sense but admits he’s got a lot of haters on campus. He has been called every word in the book, from “sexist” to “dickhead”, mainly for his support of the song “Blurred Lines”. A Law student, he is part of the Law Society and African Caribbean Society and can often be found in the Library.

“I’m an African warrior popular for walking round campus with my chest puffed out like a meerkat. You probably already know me cos your housemate has pictures of me stuck on her bedroom wall, or maybe you and your best friend just can’t stop talking about how sexy I look in a suit. Say what you want about me, but I’m the last of a dying breed… a dying breed of pimps.

A high level of game unfortunately brings in a lot of haters but I can take whatever abuse you throw at me. Unlike all the other candidates I don’t actually care whether you vote for me or not so do what you’ve got to do. Haters gonna hate, potatoes gonna potate.

Follow me on Twitter @thatpimpnellyg.”

Samira Marouf

Samira is a second year Business Management student, manager for AfterDark Promotions, Wakeboarding Social Sec and the student brand manager for Spotify. The only girl in the competition, she’s fully involved in UEA student life and loves to go out.

“I’m just a second year student that loves to party. I promote for AfterDark cos I like to avoid the Tau queue.

Am I surprised to be nominated? No – because my friends think they are funny, these embarrassing nominations are just part of the job.

Put your name on my guestlist and vote for me and I’ll sort you VIP and give you free Spotify stuff. More importantly do it to wind up the Bullman and Connor McPhail and I’ll stop clogging up your newsfeed.”

Connor McPhail

Connor’s BNOC status comes as a result of his role as promoter for various clubs. His friend and fellow promoter Dean Palmer told The Tab: “Connor’s a BNOC because he’s pretty well renowned for smashing all the fittest girls at UEA. He also runs club nights. He’s at UEA to have fun and get smashed – I’m definitely not surprised he’s nominated.

P.S. Why the fuck haven’t I been nominated.”

Although not as heavily involved with societies as other candidates, Connor’s popularity on the club scene makes him a strong contender.

“If I’m not being mugged off by one of my mates nominating, then it’s quite cool! But it’s likely someone is. People should vote for me because then they get to see my face in another Tab article.”
