Seven things only those with LinkedIn will understand.
We all have nightmares on the ‘networking’ hell.
There’s no doubt about it- LinkedIn is a fantastic employment and networking platform, and is hugely successful in its endeavours to unite like-minded business contacts, employers, and those looking for the ultimate professional connection. However, as a terrified soon-to-be-graduate, who is in complete denial about leaving University and entering the real world of work, I can’t help but be a tad amused at the everyday LinkedIn situations I feel most graduates are experiencing.
1- Feeling big-time when you get endorsed…
2-… Then realising it was your best friend. Sweet and supportive, but not quite the same is it…
3- When said friends make fun of your personal statement because you’ve used a PLETHORA of long, fancy words.
4- Taking a profile picture that makes you look reliable and professional is a challenge… Especially when all your camera has ever seen is silly snapchat faces and LCR mugshots.
5- Then finding a great picture, and hoping that it makes up for your lack of connections and endorsements.
6- Making connections with well-established employers is truly terrifying…
7- So you start padding out your CV to make yourself sound flawless
