Pumping Up! Sportspark to receive £1.3 million boost.

£1.3 million reinvested in the Sportspark to improve facilities for visitors under extensive new plans.

:The Norwich Sportspark at UEA have announced they are reinvesting a sum of up to £1.3 million to extend its fitness centre and improve visitor facilities, in what they have described as ‘ambitous plans’.

Life Fitness equipment to replace Technogym.

This will be welcomed by all users of the Sportspark and its facilities, especially gym-goers as the plans will see the existing fitness centre substantially expanded, and with new state-of-the-art ‘Life Fitness’ equipment in place. A welcome change, as it is often noted how outdated some of the gym’s equipment now is. The money will not only go toward the gym though, with all areas of the Sportspark benefitting, with the wet and dry changing rooms also being given a spruce up, with new showers and cubicles expected to be added.

Phil Steele, Director of the UEA Sportspark is available for questions on Thursday 24th of October.

Furthermore, ‘exciting’ new activites will be introduced including group cycling, personal training, and nutrition and weight management programmes (great for those of us in danger of gaining that average 2 stone at uni.) Surely the best change will be the Sportspark’s promise that they are looking at improving the scanners to get into the building, because it does help if you can get in.

Director of the Sportspark, Phil Steele, will be hosting an open forum for customers to attend on the 24th October (Thursday) in the Town Close Room (first floor, overlooking swimming pool) at 6 and 7pm, so go along if you have any questions or ideas!

Steele himself had this to say of the plans-‘We are excited to be able to carry out our extensive plans to further improve the Sportspark for all visitors. We already offer facilities which are the envy of other sports centres around the country, and we wanted to ensure that the fitness centre matches, and even surpasses these high standards.’

Good news all round, and the Tab look forward to seeing the changes revealed at the expected date of January 2014.

It is hoped the changes to the Sportspark will be finished by January 2014.
