Drama Preview: Jerusalem

Jerusalem will be Minotaur’s first show of this year, and where better to start than in Wiltshire with drugs, caravans and animal masks.

Minotaur’s latest play is set in the Wiltshire woodland on St George’s Day, following Johnny ‘Rooster’ Byron as the Local Council tries to evict him from his beaten up, drug stocked caravan.

Watch their (very slick) trailer here:

Jerusalem opened on the West End in 2009, receiving great acclaim and rave reviews. It will be one of Minotaur’s most modern choices to date. The play is dark, exploring the decay of peaceful rural England and the encroachingly antiseptic modernity of our society.

Minotaur Theatre Company produced some outstanding theatre last year and no new project should be missed, least of all one as ambitious and compelling as this.

Jerusalem is on Thursday, Friday and Saturday of this week. Tickets can be bought online or at the UEA Box Office. Watch out for The Tab’s review on Friday!
