Worrall Double Sinks Swaffham

UEA 2-1 Swaffham Town Reserves: A Gary Worrall brace on only his second appearance sealed an important win against a decent Swaffham Reserves side.

UEA were without first team regulars: Richards, Beeson, Ap Daffyd, Seymour, Skidmore, Bacon, Calvo and Pachnis for their fixture at home to Swaffham, Katase, Worrall and Willerton all returned to the side.

UEA started comfortably in possession while Swaffham looked to make their physicality count. It was UEA who created the first notable chance as Chapman rattled the bar with a long range effort, a combination of Willerton and Worrall failed to convert the rebound.

At the other end Swaffham went close from a corner striking the crossbar with Scott and Creasy both clearing off the line.

UEA broke the deadlock as Worrall latched onto a Chapman header volleying beyond the advancing keeper to give the home side the lead. UEA continued to look dangerous with man of the match Katase particularly impressive down the left.

UEA continued to dominate the second period with Dingli and Willerton both going close. For all their possession there was a danger of the home side overplaying and giving Swaffham opportunities to nick the ball on the counter.

With twenty minutes to go the visitors found an equaliser from a set-piece with the captain rising highest to nod home for 1-1.

Both sides could sense a winner now but UEA’s quality told with ten minutes to go. Harle rose at the back post and his header was met by Worrall, the goal scorer managed to send his effort threw a crowded area with the ball being adjudged just over the line.

At 2-1 UEA’s composure ensured they saw the game out securing another much needed three points. Despite missing several first team regulars those that came in produced a solid performance.
