Glee Presents: ‘Where There is a Flame’

Why we at the Tab love Glee Club.

I’ve only been a member of Glee for a couple of weeks and already I feel so at home! Everyone loves getting stuck in and they’re incredibly welcoming to literally anyone – as long as you’re enthusiastic about music there’s a place for you. Finally I now have somewhere other than the shower to express my love of singing!

Whether you think singing and performing arts is your thing or not, I can guarantee that you’ll have a lot of fun. Everyone’s there to share their mutual love of music, and don’t feel you have to be a perfect “Rachel Berry” to join – people of all abilities take part, as long as you have the enthusiasm then that’s all that really matters.

If you want to know more then come along to our show on Thursday 28th February, ‘Glee Presents: Where There Is a Flame’! There are so many great hits, new and old and from a range of genres, so you definitely do not want to miss it! Tickets will be on sale soon, so keep an eye out!

Here are a few words from a loyal Glee member, Louis Warner:

“UEA Glee is about self-expression. Originally a sub-section of UEA’s Music Soc, Glee’s founding members wanted to pursue a more theatrical route. UEA Glee features a range of different musical styles, from classic to modern pop to rock, and focuses on the merits of genre reinvention and the ability to adapt music to people’s tastes.

Previously, UEA Glee has produced two big shows: In 2011, ‘The Soul Within’, a student-written musical, and 2012 followed with a light adaption of ‘A Winter’s Tale’ called ‘All These Things that I Have Done’ (again, student written), with both performances receiving positive feedback and a popular attendance.

This year UEA Glee has decided to produce a showcase-styled show in favour of a musical. We feel this benefits the members of the society and allows every member’s talents to be appreciated and rewarded. UEA Glee prides itself on the deconstruction of cliques and the prerogative of committee to be beneficial to its members.”
