Norwich In Snowy Stand-Still
Heavy snow storms across Norfolk have brought Norwich to a grinding halt.
Satellite images of Norfolk have shown how the snow brought Norwich to a stand-still.
East Anglia has been hit by a thick blanket of snow, while other parts of the UK remain snowless. The fresh band of storms yesterday on the East coast caused chaos in Norwich.
42 schools were closed in Norfolk, all planes grounded at Norwich International Airport and there was a six-vehicle pile-up on the A11 near Larling, adding to five other serious road incidents in the county.
A number of roads were closed in Norwich, including Grapes Hill and Gaol Hill; and traffic on open roads seems to be at a stand-still.
There was an estimated two hour delay for First Buses in the city, and the Blue Line which serves UEA is currently unable to drive down Chancellor’s Drive. All konectbus services have also been suspended.
In spite of the desperate traffic situation however, UEA students have been making the most of the snow. The @uniofeastanglia twitter page has boasted some excellent snowmen!
