NYE Nightmare In Norwich

A serious stabbing on NYE on Magdalen Street forces us once again to ask the question, “do we really live in the UK’s safest city?”

| UPDATED

A man in his fifties was stabbed on December 31 near the flyover on Magdalen Street, at around 11pm.

The police were initially called to reports that a woman had been attacked by St Saviour Church, when they found the man by the red phone box opposite the RSPCA charity shop.

The man suffered brutal stabs to both his face and throat, and was taken to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital A&E department, where his injuries were described as ”serious” but not “life-threatening”.

The stabbing took place close to many student houses and on a street boasting student haunts.

A woman has been arrested in connection with the stabbing.
