The Pink Line bus route in Norwich is currently raising funds for Breast Cancer Care and the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital (NNUH) as part of Breast Cancer Awareness Month.

The move follows the introduction of new colour-coded bus routes by First in September. The buses raising funds are the 11, 11a and 11b services between Sprowston and the NNUH.

The Norwich Breast Cancer Patient Support Fund based at the NNUH was the charity chosen by First because of its funding for local support groups for breast cancer patients.

The Fund was set up in 1992 by a practice nurse who had breast cancer. A breast cancer specialist at the NNUH told Norwich Evening News, “The money is being used to fund support groups, provide travel expenses and specialist clothing, helping to improve the quality of life for local people undergoing treatment for breast cancer.

“We are very grateful to First buses for their donation.”

To begin the fundraising, on Tuesday 30 October First bus drivers wore Breast Cancer Awareness T-shirts and provided collection tins on every bus for passengers to donate any spare change.
