Burst pipe blunder turns tap water yellow and puts city centre on lockdown

You didn’t have any plans this morning, did you?

Homes, businesses and lives have been left in massive disarray after a burst pipe has flooded one of the busiest streets in Newcastle.

Now some disgusted residents have been left unable to drink or wash thanks thanks to discoloured tap water.

Looking more like a scene in the last half hour of Titanic, Scotswood Road (the road you need to cross to travel literally anywhere in town) played victim to a burst pipe really early this morning, with the Quayside quickly named as the second casualty.

The terror saw Heaton procrastinating hotspot Heaton Perk’s delayed business hours.

Stressed second years had to wait a whole THIRTY MINUTES after the coffee house’s usual opening times.

Tragic

Concerned Toon parents took to social media to express their worries that their kids couldn’t get a shower before they set off in the morning.

Woes were quickly soothed by the confirmation Newcastle College would remain closed today as virtually every entrance is water bound.

Eldon Square took a hit too, opening ever so slightly later than usual leading to havoc amongst REALLY early morning shoppers.

Hapless water suppliers Northumbrian Water have confirmed that most houses now have their water running freely in their homes but the huge puddles dominating the city are still being dealt with.

The college took a hit

Traffic in the city centre, however, is still utter chaos with drivers complaining traffic stand stills are lasting up to 40 minutes.

To voice your anger, laugh at how pissed off everyone is or to fund out if you’ll ever be able to have a shower again, customers are advised to contact Northumbria Water via their twitter page.
