‘The Bigg Market is my favourite part of Newcastle’
Hannah MaloneyTop Gear presenter James May has expressed his love for Geordie-land as he geared up to hit the Toon.
The crew have been in Newcastle this weekend as part of their UK tour.
Ahead of the show James May told The Chronicle exactly why he loves Newcastle so much, and the answer to this was the legendary Bigg Market.
“I have been here a few times, they have a nice time up here don’t they? You go to the Bigg Market and drink beer and fall over and all that stuff. I have been there. The Bigg Market is my favourite part of Newcastle.”
Home to some of our favourite nights spots, including Flares and Popworld, and not forgetting some of the best grub in the city with a varied selection of takeaways.
It’s probable that his partner-in-crime Jeremy Clarkson joined him out on the lash.

“I would not claim to know a lot about Newcastle, I have been here a bit and I have known a few Geordies in my time,” he told The Chronicle.
“They are not shy and retiring are they.”
