Flares throwback and fry up. And Abz from 5ive.

Abz from 5ive sacked off The Big Reunion to play for Northumbria students and that is the exact reason he gave. Definitely.

Newcastle’s favourite 90’s boybander Abz graced Flares’ sticky dance floor last night. To celebrate Northumbria’s chemical engineering social the 70’s club pulled out all the student stops for a magical sophisticated evening of cheesy tunes, chips and cheap shots.

Regardless of this, he was given a warm Jaeger whiffing welcome and probably a free plate of chips – Flares had created a ‘Cheap as Chips’ gimmic night to coincide with Abz’ arrival meaning everyone received a free plate of lovingly cooked chips at the door. Nothing will line your stomach for a night of Corky’s and Fosters like a free take away.

Dinner, drink and a show

After bopping about  in the DJ booth… sorry, performing some of 5ive’s greatest hits, Abz bid his farewell’s to the students who had made it to the end of the night, covered in highlighter and permanent markers as they were given free roam to decorate their own t-shirts for the crawl, the crazy animals.

The height of hospitality and home to pop royalty.

The VIP booth (yes, in Flares) was surprisingly busy and the main floor was rammed, leaving debate as to whether the free food attracted the bar crawlers or the sparkling performance of one Mr Richard Breen. That’s Abz Love to you and me.
