A guide to Newcastle’s Vintage Stores

Whether you’re a diehard Depoper or a charity shop lover looking for your next fit, we’ve got you covered.

Everyone loves a new vintage look, and even better when it’s bought from small businesses.

If you’re wondering where you can find some sweet outfits in the toon then look no further!

The Vintage Store

First up is the new kid on the block: The Vintage Store on Northumberland Street. They only opened their doors on the 2nd of October but have seen  10,000 customers coming in each day.

The store stocks tonnes of items from bags to shoes and outwear. If you’re looking for branded vintage this is the place; from brands such as Nike, North Face, and Champion.

They also have some generous competitions up for grabs: if you make a purchase then tag them you could be in the chance of winning £250 worth of free vintage clothing!

Price average for a sweatshirt: £28-45

What I love about this store: The open layout so it’s super easy to find particular brands, and the music is mint.

The Vintage Scene

Another newbie is The Vintage Scene on Ridley Place which opened last year. Since the lifting of restrictions it’s already become quite the hotspot and we can see why.

It’s hard to pop in and leave empty handed as they add new stock all the time, so there’s defo something for everyone.

If you’re a fan of reworked vintage or are looking for items to add to your everyday wardrobe, you defo need to go ASAP.

Plus, they sell a range of accessories, such as quirky earrings and bandanas, so you can complete your look.

Price average for a sweatshirt: £28-35

What I love about this store: The stock is seasonal so they always have something no matter the weather!

The Yesterday Society

If you take a walk to Grainger Market is a little gem called The Yesterday Society. This store is a proper Aladdin’s cave where you’re sure to find statement pieces, bold prints, and retro jackets.

But don’t worry if you can’t find it, you can also buy online through their Etsy store.

Price average for a sweatshirt: £25-40

What I love about this store: You don’t know what you’ll find so it’s deffo worth exploring!

ANALOG

Also within Grainger Market is ANALOG. If you like throwing it back to the 90s then ANALOG has got you! This store specialises in handpicked items, printed jackets, and vintage sportswear. Expect quality items that you can put together to get that 90s grunge!

You can also find them online via Depop (although prices are cheaper in store), and have some vibey playlists on their Spotify account.

Price average for a sweatshirt: £25-45

What I love about this store: It’s open Mon-sat 10 AM till 5 PM so you can always pop in for a browse between lectures.

Boutique by St Oswalds

Finally is Jesmond’s own crown jewels of charity shops St Oswalds.

This wholesome boutique supplies a dose of designer luxury with items from Ralph Lauren, Michael Kors, Barbour, and Gucci. So if you are willing to stretch your student budget for a pre-loved designer find have a search in St Oswalds.

Price average – £40-£80 for a handbag (depending on the brand). Coats can range from £30-£70 (depending on brand and condition)

What I love about this store – Its in Jesmond and the money goes to a good cause!

Good luck finding your next fit and remember to support sustainable shopping.
