Newcastle and Northumbria soar in the Complete University Guide 2020

Northumbria entered the top 50

The Complete University Guide for 2020 has been released and unis in Newcastle have done pretty well.

Newcastle University remained in 22nd place and Northumbria moved up to 50th.

The report also found that Newcastle University was in the top 10 in the country for a number of courses including Medicine, Dentistry and Marketing.

Stand out performance came from the media department with Media, Communication and Cultural Studies coming in third just behind Sheffield and Leeds.

The data was collected from a number of student surveys, such as student satisfaction, drop out rates and quality of research submitted.

Of course, the real reason why so many students grace the glorious Toon for three years is for those sweet sweet trebs and to get down to Swingers every Thursday for a boogie, however the report did not cover such crucial data.

In summary the report found that there was a 5% drop out rate, that the Marj, Robbo and all other libraries had been credited for standards of customer service.

The overall student satisfaction score for Newcastle was 4.03/5, exactly the same as Northumbria.

The Guide proved to be favourable of Northumbria this year, moving them up the table from 56th to 50th. This marks Northumbria University's debut into the top 50 universities in the UK, a contributing factor behind many a UCAS application.

Library services across the City Campus, Law school library and Coach Lane library were ranked 2nd in the UK, a phenomenal accolade to boast for Northumbria, whose library services were previously joint first in the UK with Cambridge University.

It's no surprise that the report found that Northumbria University was in top ten in the UK for IT related courses, following the recent £52 million pound investment in the new Computer Sciences building at the rear of Ellison Building approaching Camden Bridge.

The Complete University Guide can be a crucial report for many wary Year 13s. It can help them to decide which university they want to go to, which offers the best courses and of course which one has the best social life.

Both universities performed exceptionally well, and truly remind us how we are so privileged to study in the beautiful North East.
