There was classical music, hot-dogs and complimentary Carling

Six Newcastle third-years hosted a very unique bonfire party on Sunday night, as guests were invited to their event "The official Jesmond fireworks bonanza."

With safety and precision being of up-most importance, the boys handed out pre-written brochures to all the guests, to ensure the night would run smoothly and effectively.

The hosts had all been assigned different roles to carry out throughout the evening.

The welfare of the guests was taken very seriously, appointing one of the lads as "Health and safety expert and risk assessor."

On arrival, all visitors were greeted by him for a quick debrief: "Fire is very dangerous, it must be treated with respect." Important info right there, don't know how they'd have managed without him.

The first thirty arrivals were given gourmet hot-dogs (from a can), lovingly prepared by the "Chief hot-dog poacher", as well as a free beer before heading outside to watch the show.

All the neighbours were spotted at their windows in their dressing gowns, keen to not miss out on the show of the century.

The guests went wild as the fireworks soared into the air in a truly spellbinding firework exhibition.

One invitee told the Tab Newcastle: "It was the best fireworks display I've ever seen.

"Despite one of the boys almost blowing his head off and multiple fireworks nearly hitting the telephone wires and killing the whole of Jes, it was an exceptionally magical evening. Can't wait for next year."
