‘Spy on The Wall’: Tab Blind Dates

Love is in the air

Sometimes, admiring your library boyfriend eating a panini from afar just isn’t enough anymore. With the winter cold comes the longing for someone to cuddle in front of  I’m a Celeb with, and take scarf-clad strolls through Jesmond Dene. If you’re longing for a boo, the Tab have got you covered.

Introducing the Tab Newcastle’s brand new blind date series at Spy Bar, Jesmond. This is your chance to finally meet that special one and have someone to introduce to the rents at your family Christmas party. And hey, if it does’t go well at least it’s got you out the house.

To kick it off, we told two tasty singles a time and place to meet, and spoke to them individually afterwards about how the whole shebang went.

Let’s meet the daters:

Charles, English Literature, Second Year

Georgie, English Linguistics, Media and Communications, Second Year

Georgie’s verdict:

What were your first impressions of them?

“I recognised him, a few weeks ago we got with each other at Trop!”

Would you swipe right for them?

“Yeah.”

Were there any awkward moments?

“Not that I recall, mainly the beginning as it was a bit of a surprise to be going on a date with someone I had gotten with a few weeks ago…”

What did you like about them?

“He had a nice face. I like that he’s tall and he’s got a nice voice.”

What didn’t you like about them?

“I can’t think of anything bad to say about him.”

Snog, marry or avoid?

“Avoid sounds a bit harsh, so I’ll say i’d put a ring on it.”

Will you see them again?

“Probably, but in the club or at pres as we have some mutual friends.”

If you were to message them again, would it be for a date, a booty-call or to hang out as pals?

“I hope it would be as friends, we got on as mates more than anything else.”

Did you kiss?

“No.”

Was there more love for the food or the couple?

Charles’ verdict:

What were your first impressions?

“I said to myself ‘Hold on, I feel like I’ve seen this girl before somewhere.'”

Would you swipe right for them?

“I’m not a big Tinder kind of guy. It’s right for yes and left for no I think? So yeah, to the right, to the right.”

Were there any awkward moments?

“When I realised it wasn’t really a proper blind date…”

What did you like about them?

“I liked how she was eating nachos and burgers and drinking beer with me. That was cool. So many people are vegans nowadays. I’ve never dated a vegan but it probably feels like a long snack.”

What didn’t you like about them?

“I can’t really think of anything I didn’t like. We had a nice time.”

Snog, marry or avoid?

“Avoid, sadly.”

Will you see them again?

“I’d like to think we’ll see each other in the street someday and look back on this and laugh.”

If you were to message them again, would it be for a date, a bootycall or to hang out as pals?

“To hang out as pals.”

Did you kiss?

“Never kiss and tell!”
