RAG speed dating is back next week

Roses are red, violets are blue, if you’re sick of swiping left, come to the SU

Newcastle Raising & Giving Society (RAG), is hosting its annual speed dating event on the 21st November in the Student’s Union at 7pm.

For the small price of £5 (£4 for members of the RAG society) you could meet the love of your life, the flame of your night, or just some new friends. All proceeds from the night will be going to the Orchid Male Cancer Charity. Set to the soundtrack of an expertly selected love playlist, it should be a memorable night.

An exciting twist this year is that aspects of Tinder will be used within the speed dates. To bring speed dating into the 21st Century, RAG are taking inspiration from the famous dating app.

Each date is a snappy two minutes. Depending on who you are chatting to, this can feel like an instant or an eternity. To solve this, RAG has introduced a ‘super-like’ system. If you and a certain someone are really hitting it off and you think it’s love at first sight, you can move to your own private table so that you’re not constrained by the time limit.

In the lead up to the big night, the committee have also been posting daily video dating profiles which showcase some of the guys and girls attending the night. Seven have been posted so far with another seven to go. Check out the event page to see who tickles your fancy.
