Emma Thompson’s in Newcastle filming by Quayside

Stop what you’re doing

Award winning actress, Emma Thompson, has been spotted on Quayside this afternoon with cameras and camera crews.

Grainy Snapchats show the actress walking past the Newcastle Law Courts escorted by two men. She is thought to be filming for a new film, although it’s not clear which what the film is.

It’s known that she will be starring in a new film, The Children Act, also starring Stanley Tucci, due to be released in 2017. The film involves a British High Court judge Fiona Maye who toils over a case involving a young boy diagnosed with cancer who refuses treatment on his family’s religious beliefs.

The actress, who is 57, attended Newnham College, Cambridge, where she became a member of the Footlights troupe. Among other films she’s starred in Love Actually, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, Nanny McPhee, Men, Women & Children and Bridget Jones’s Baby.

Tweets from the local area suggest she had a coffee in a Quayside cafe before she went filming.

It’s not known how long she will be in Newcastle for, or if she will return to film more shots.
