Newcastle is the second most fashionable uni in the UK

In a cruel twist of fate Newcastle is officially the second most fashionable university in the UK – tragically pipped to first place by Manchester.

Online fashion retailer Lyst revealed which students spend the most on clothes per month, with us coming in a more than respectable – but still undeserved – second place.

Their research showed students in Newcastle spend £56 per month on average with their favourite brand being ASOS.

We were beaten by Manchester who spend £58 a month on average, buying most of their clothes from Missguided (loooooool), and slid just ahead of third place Nottingham, who spend £55 a month.

The least fashionable uni is Cambridge, who spend £32 and buy most of their clothes from GAP
