Family and friends of the 50-year-old economics graduate have been utilizing social media to try and gain contact with Mr. Dixon.

A spokesman for No.10 said: “We are concerned about one missing British national and we are in close contact with the Belgian authorities. Our embassy staff are working to assist all British nationals affected.”
