Jules B clothing shop in Jesmond targeted at knifepoint

Staff were left terrifed after the incident

Jesmond clothing shop Jules B has been targeted by thieves at knifepoint.

The thieves entered the shop with knifes and wearing balaclavas, were believed to be looking for a shop safe.

After realising there was no store safe on site they began to steal clothes, loading them on to a getaway car.

The car was believed to be a blue or silver hatchback, fleeing in the direction of Osborne Road at around 9:30am.

No staff were injured in the incident.

Owner of the store Julian Blades said: ” I can’t believe this has happened, it is just shocking. To think that such a level of violence and threatening behaviour can happen in broad daylight in a suburban area is very worrying.

“I popped over to the store this morning and saw floods of armed police, the area was a crime scene.”

Anyone who witnessed the incident, saw two men in a blue or silver car in the area around the time of the incident, or have any information that could help the police’s investigation, should call 101, extension 69191, quoting reference number 226.
